Renowned for its à la carte trail concept, the Ut4M offers with the 40 Series, four races which offer immersion in each ultra massif. As you can imagine, the shorter the distance, the faster people go. But this trace will allow you to scout at your own pace.
The Ut4M 40 Chartreuse explores the trails of the eponymous massif, with its waterfalls, lakes and ravines. This public route covers almost 41 kilometers punctuated by approximately 2,400 meters of elevation gain.
The journey begins in Saint-Nazaire-les-Eymes, where you begin the route towards Emeindras, dominated by the imposing Chamechaude. The climb to this summit, the highest point of the Chartreuse at 2,082 meters above sea level, is a challenge to take on. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the region.
After crossing the Col de Porte, you discover Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse, a village imbued with authentic tranquility and charm. The road then leads to Fort du Saint-Eynard, known for its impressive fortifications and military history.
The Col de Vence and the Rachais follow, preludes to the final descent towards Grenoble. A descent that passes the legendary site of the Bastille offers a spectacular transition from the mountain to the city. The race ends in Grenoble, where you can celebrate your conquest of the Chartreuse peaks.
