Running

Renowned for its à la carte trail concept, the Ut4M offers with the 40 Series, four races which offer immersion in each ultra massif. As you can imagine, the shorter the distance, the faster people go. But this trace will allow you to scout at your own pace.

The Ut4M 40 Belledonne explores the trails of the eponymous massif, with its waterfalls, lakes and ravines. This public route covers almost 47 kilometers punctuated by approximately 2,700 meters of elevation gain.

The Ut4M 40 Belledonne is a true alpine conquest. Unlike the other courses, here half of the race is crowned by the ascent to Pic Couttet, the highest point of the event.

Departing from Rioupéroux, you make your way through the Arselle, gradually climbing towards the impressive foothills of the Rocher de l'Homme. Passing through Lake Achard offers a refreshing break before taking on the challenge of climbing to the Croix de Chamrousse at an altitude of 2,253 meters. There, a technical descent winds through the Robert Lakes, bodies of water of glacial origin, to the La Pra refuge.

At this point, you will have noticed that in this course, water is king. You tread among shimmering lakes, deep ravines and idyllic waterfalls. The descent towards Pré Long reveals a splendid view of the Grésivaudan valley, before entering the final straight. A relatively flat route guides you from Villard-Bonnot to the finish line in Saint-Nazaire-les-Eymes.

The Croix de Chamrousse is a summit which rises to an altitude of 2,253 meters in the middle of the Belledonne range.

It's a bit of an obligatory passage since the arrivals and departures of several cable cars and chairlifts converge there, including the one heading towards the Robert lakes.
