The starting point Osann-Monzel is located between the Hüttenkopf and Rosenberg mountains, in a side valley of the Moselle, through which a loop of the Moselle flowed millions of years ago. Later, the Moselle carved a more direct course through the Rhenish Slate Mountains. From the Monzeler Hüttenkopfweg you get a good idea of this geological development. In these old river valleys and on the slopes of their surrounding mountains, as well as on the current course of the river itself, viticulture is successfully practiced. The Monzeler Hüttenkopf is 423.4 m above sea level. NN the second highest elevation in the Mosel Mountains. A shady forest path leads up.

Actually a beautiful hiking trail with some lovely viewpoints. However, the paths are very difficult to walk on in places. Some sections have been completely disturbed by wild boars. The top layer of soil has probably been disturbed by the wild boars and is therefore difficult to walk on. There is also old wood and tree trunks on the path …
