The last Tour is short but sportingly relevant. In fact, the point of this Tour is to make you cycle along the route of the 2008 Varese World Championship. This was the last cycling world championship won by an Italian: after Alessandro Ballan no Italian cyclist has managed to wear the rainbow jersey. The 2008 Varese world championship is remembered as one of the most difficult of the 2000s. In fact, the 18 kilometers of the route are peppered with 300 meters of altitude difference.

The Tour begins from the Varese racecourse, as happened in September 2008. It is not an easy start given that the ramps of via Montello await you immediately. At the end of the climb, 1,600 meters long, it begins to descend towards Lake Varese. To get there, however, there are some counterslopes that make you struggle.

Once you reach the lake, follow it for a few hundred meters. The Ronchi climb that takes you back to Varese is 2,500 meters long and is characterized by hard climbs, interspersed with flatter sections. It passes through the central Via Sacco and Piazza Monte Grappa, the place where Alessandro Ballan launched his decisive attack.

Viale Valganna takes you quickly back to the Hippodrome. Congratulations, you have completed the world tour!

Piazza Monte Grappa is one of the most important meeting places in Varese. It houses historic buildings, such as that of the Chamber of Commerce. From a sporting point of view, it is remembered as the site of Alessandro Ballan's decisive attack during the 2008 World Cycling Championships.
