Tribute to "La Dona Marinera"

Highlight • Monument

The Venus of Lloret, also known as Dona marinera, is a statue of the municipality of Lloret de Mar, Catalonia (Spain), the work of the artist Ernest Maragall Noble, which is part of the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. In some languages, such as English, she is known as "The Fisherman's Woman".

It is a statue carved in bronze that rests on a rounded granite block, located in the southern part of the large beach (platja gran) of Lloret de Mar and accessible by a cobbled path that runs along the coast to the castle of San Juan of Lloret. It is located in a small cobbled square and surrounded by benches, where pedestrians can rest and enjoy the view of the sea.

The Venus, 2.40 meters high on the pedestal, represents a female figure looking towards the sea as if greeting or saying goodbye to someone. Barefoot, with perky breasts and wearing a fine, tight-fitting suit, she looks towards the sea, raising her right hand as if trying to communicate with someone or something from the sea.

Cala Banys

Highlight • Beach

A great corner to go hiking or have a great view of the water. We specifically visited this shop to relax after hiking and to enjoy the view. You can't go wrong here for a cappuccino. A detour here is always worth it.

Passeig de Manel Bernat Coastal Walk

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Nice walk along the rocks. Unfortunately you can't get to Playa Lloret, there's a gate blocked and you have to walk back.

The Castell de Sant Joan is a fortification in the municipality of Lloret de Mar, declared a cultural asset of national interest.

The fortification is located on the cliff of a small elevation popularly known as Cerro Castell, about 60 meters above sea level, which separates Lloret beach from Fenals beach. From its position you can perfectly see both the area near the center of Lloret and the castle of San Juan de Blanes, which is part of the same line of fortifications (hence they share the same name).

The castle is accessible both by car and on foot, with a path that starts from one of the main promenades of the town and runs along the sea side, until reaching the promontory on which it is located from the east.

Fenals Beach

Highlight • Beach

It is located in a semi-urbanized area of Lloret de Mar and is accessed via the GI-682 road (Blanes-Lloret). It can be reached by intercity bus.

On one side of the beach, in the form of a very open bay with deep waters, stands a promontory (which is the highest point on the coast of Lloret) where the remains of the Castle of San Juan are.

You need to hike a bike a bit to the beach and back but it's well worth it if you like rocks and clean water. People also snorkel here.

Sant Francesc Cove

Highlight • Beach

Located just over a kilometer from the urban center of Blanes, in front of a quiet and tree-lined residential area, this cove has numerous services. It is made of coarse sand and the slope at the entrance to the sea is quite steep.

Sant Francesc cove is a beautiful and very well equipped beach. The surroundings are urbanized, but no buildings stand out above the abundant trees. It is located just over a kilometer from the urban center of Blanes, in front of a quiet, tree-lined residential area. It has a length of 170 meters and is made up of coarse-grained sand. The entrance slope to the sea is quite steep and the seabed is sandy, except for a rock on the shore, on the right side of the beach.

It has showers, a small parking area, a beach bar and rental of sun loungers, parasols and pedal skates. It also has a tourist cruise service, which tours the town's beaches and reaches neighboring Lloret de Mar. It is delimited, to the west, by the tip of La Roqueta, in front of which they are located, about 120 meters from the sea. Inside, some rocks known as the Niell de Cala de Sant Francesc.

To the left of the beach extends a rocky area very suitable for diving and angling. A small coastal path runs along part of this stretch of coastline. Halfway to the tip of S'Agulla, which is less than a kilometer away, is the beautiful rocky cove of Sa Llapissada, which is difficult to access on foot.

Camí de Ronda of Blanes

Highlight • Trail

Official starting point of the beautiful route of the Camino de Ronda of the Costa Brava.

The Camino de Ronda is the name by which the route that ran along the quiet Costa Brava was known and was used by the Civil Guard to control the Spanish maritime border and prevent smuggling. Nowadays it is also known as an attractive walk through which we can travel along the Costa Brava and its respective beaches. In recent years, renovations have been made, thanks to which they have turned the walk into a tourist route.

Monument to Karl Faust

Highlight • Monument

Karl Faust was a German businessman and scientific patron, established in Catalonia from 1897. Despite showing concern for natural sciences from a very young age, his parents thought it appropriate for him to study commerce. He went to Barcelona, first as a worker for the Körting Hermanos company, and later he established himself on his own.

Having already passed the age of fifty, he decided to recover the illusions of youth and dedicate himself to science. He invested his fortune in the construction of a botanical garden that was to be, at the same time, a research and educational center for Europeans from the center and north of the continent, who would find, in Blanes, the favorable conditions for numerous plants from arid and tropical climates. that in their countries of origin they could grow only in greenhouses. He named the garden Marimurtra, uniting in a single word one of the characteristic Mediterranean plants that grows in these lands, the myrtle, with the Mediterranean that bathes the feet of the garden.

A board of trustees manages the Private Foundation which, from the moment of his death, has guaranteed the continuity of his altruistic project.

January 5, 2023,🇪🇦 🥾 auf dem Camí de Ronda 🔄 Lloret de Mar ↔️ Blanes 🏁
We probably don't walk as many steps as we did on our entire holiday in Spain all year round. 😅 It was another great final tour with a magnificent view of Blanes. We did not visit the botanical gardens on this tour, although they are certainly beautiful to look at. We need a reason to come back.
(HM total approx. …

We mainly follow the GR 92 and the Camí de Ronda

Just right for winter. It's still a bit chilly in the morning, but as soon as the sun comes out it's fine.

I'm going to test Bergfex on this tour and then transfer the tours to Komoot afterwards. So it can happen that the photos are mixed up.

Today we go from Lloret to Blanes👣..
First to Playa de Fenals and on to Playa Cala Sa Boadella. We like it there and we'll stay right away for 🏊‍♀️🏖️☀️🍻 and stuff😅.
We then continued along the Way of St. James for a bit... we actually wanted to continue along the coast, but unfortunately here too 🖐️ Everything was cordoned …

Today we hiked the last stage of the GR 92 -Cami de Ronda 🙂
In the morning we started from Fenals beach.
First we passed one or the other bay ⛱️😍...until we could see the skyline of Blanes from above.
Several stairs and steps lower we arrived in the city.
Unfortunately, the path was road-heavy in many areas 🥾... and …

You can have a beach holiday in Lloret, but you don't have to.
We decided to visit Blanes first.
Quickly ripped open on Komoot and accidentally caught 90% of the G92.
The beginning was great, but in the middle it was a very long walk down a busy street. But more on that later. Nevertheless, it was wonderful and this …

Great hike with contrasts. In between, a long stretch is on the road, especially since the "bypass" is now closed in one place. It is also impossible to get through on foot. So you can save yourself the detour.
You have great views of beautiful bays and get to know the party mile from a completely different and beautiful side. …

Along the Catalan coast - on the Mediterranean route (GR 92) from Lloret de Mar to Blanes - Stage 12

This morning I watched the people and the action on the promenade in Lloret while drinking a coffee at the beach bar. The party town, as always. Then we went up the first headland, steeply uphill as always. Every now …
