Royal Tour near Hackfort Castle

Don't forget to put on your crown, because it promises to be a regal ride today. For almost 1.5 kilometers you will discover the paths and landscapes around Hackfort Castle.

On paths along the fields at the Hackfort estate, you eventually arrive at the castle of the same name. The castle was already built in the 14th century, but was destroyed in the 80-year war. It was then rebuilt and renovated, eventually resulting in the castle that now rises imposingly from the fields before you. There are beautiful routes in the castle park and you can also visit the outbuildings.

One of the Highlights you will encounter on the estate is the water mill. This water mill is more than 300 years old and is still in use after restoration in the 1990s. The Baakse Beek flows under the national monument. All in all, this is a very idyllic picture. Enjoy this for a while before you start your way to the finish.

You park in the parking lot of the Hackfort estate. From here you follow the yellow arrows. If you come by public transport, get off at bus stop Kasteel Hackfort and pick up the route there. In the Keuken van Hackfort you can have something to eat and drink before or after the tour.

Do you want to see the fields you pass along the way in bloom? Then take this trip in June or July and enjoy, among other things, poppies and chamomile. If you come a little earlier in the year, you will be amazed at all the spring bloomers, such as crocuses and spring bells, at a number of places along the path.
