Dunes de la Slack — loop from Wimereux in the parc naturel régional des Caps et marais d'Opale

On this tour you have to climb over a field of rubble from a rockfall. According to the signs, it is not possible to get through, but if you are fairly sure-footed and feel safe, you can "climb" over it - of course at your own risk, pay attention to the weather, and watch the coast carefully. In this area, the cliffs collapse regularly. A visit to the dune landscape is definitely worth it, and is also possible without the coastal section. I don't have a photo of the highlight I added, because I found it so beautiful and enjoyed it so much, so you have to go there to experience it for yourself :)

A walk suggested in the Euroreizen.be brochure. But the brochure stated that the walk was interrupted. There were only Belgians in the parking lot. We leave on a cobblestone road between the dunes and the Slack and arrive at Ambleteuse Fort. The weather is very changeable. At the fort we continue walking between the sea and the dunes. It's high tide. Eventually we arrive at rocks where the waves crash. The dune cliff is very muddy and slippery. The dunes behind us are heavily cordoned off. We go over the rocks until we see an opportunity to climb the dune cliff. On the dune we see that it has disappeared. Erosion. We find other footsteps and follow them. Eventually we arrive at the official path that is cordoned off on this side. We cross the track and continue our way along a beautifully landscaped dune path. The weather is very changeable. From wind and rain to sun and open sky. But we have taken our steps again. 😊😄

Attention, the road over the dunes along the sea has been washed away! At low tide you can easily cross the beach and take the path to the right just before the Slack.

The Slack is a small river 22 km long that winds its way from its source at Mont Binôt near Hardinghen until it finally flows into the sea on the Opal Coast at the fort of Ambleteuse. Because it went so wrong yesterday, I did it better now.... A little later in the evening, wonderfully quiet. You could hear the birds, even a cuckoo. Wild Hyacinth and other beautiful flowers. Unfortunately no sunset red... But a lovely sporty walk

A wonderful loop, first along the almost deserted, very large beach, near Fort d'Ambleteuse, then through the dunes. It's tiring to walk on the sandy paths, but absolutely fantastic 🤩
