Hiking

This Tour that goes from San Lazzaro (Agerola) to Amalfi takes you through the Valle delle Ferriere Nature Reserve, a real ecological and historical treasure.

After a fairly steep first climb, the trail plunges you into lush, unspoilt vegetation. The walk is done in the soothing shade of the trees, to the sound of the waterfalls flowing into the valley.

Along the way, the architectural heritage is offered to you. You will discover remains of old paper mills which testify to the industrial past of the region. The ruins of old iron processing factories recall the metallurgical activity that once animated the valley.

This industrial heritage mixes with ancient and medieval monuments. You come across vestiges of medieval times, charming bridges and vestiges of old communication routes. All this gives a mystical and timeless atmosphere to this hike.

The landscape is a succession of striking panoramas. The majestic mountains provide a stunning contrast to the azure blue sea that looms on the horizon. The waterfalls and streams meandering through the valley add a musical and magical touch to this wilderness adventure.

In Amalfi, you will be greeted by the bright colors of the houses that cluster along the steep cliffs. Reward yourself with a moment of relaxation on the beach, before going to explore the picturesque lanes and savor the local cuisine in the restaurants bordering the sea.

View of Amalfi

Highlight • Viewpoint

Amalfi holds centuries of history in its folds of stone and sea. Born in Roman times, passed through the hands of the Byzantines and Lombards, in the Middle Ages it became one of the powerful Maritime Republics, an undisputed protagonist of trade in the Mediterranean between the 9th and 11th centuries.

Today, its splendor is told by the narrow streets that climb between colorful houses, the ruined towers and the remains of ancient fortifications: living traces of a past that still whispers between the walls.

September 13, 2024,Von Amalfi nach San Lazzaro🇮🇹
We took the bus down to Amalfi. There was a huge crowd. We bought a few provisions. Then we set off. First there were lots of steps to the start in the Valle delle Ferriere. Then there were lots of old walls that used to be mills. It's amazing how people built them in the past. But they were beautiful …

Alleged walking time by locals of 2 hours = greatly understated. Few Signs, Beautiful Views. At the end of a short, steep section, apparently into the undergrowth, then soon on the right path.

It is a very panoramic tour, a bit long but without particular difficulties.
There are no exposed areas and the paths are all fairly signposted.

This tour is splendid, above all it is beautiful to arrive and enjoy the spectacle that is the Valle delle Ferriere after a real, tough, demanding walk. I don't want to exaggerate at all but this tour, to put it briefly, is selective but not in the sense that it is difficult but in the sense that, presenting various variations …
