Trail Reviews

April 2, 2023, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🥾🚴‍♀️ Von Whitby über den Cinder Track zur Robin Hood Bay und zur Whitby Abbey

From Whitby an old railway line runs along the coast to Scarbouroug, which has been converted into a cycle path. A scenic route with great views of the sea. The first highlight is the viaduct over the river Elk, after which it goes gently uphill. However, the surface is usually quite muddy because the leaves seem to be hardly removed and so much mud forms. After a short time the summit is reached and it goes back down to Robin Hood Bay. We were there yesterday, but it was cold, dark and wet, today it was sunny, cold and dry. Already significantly better. I took another stroll through the village and across the beach because the Hotel Victoria wouldn't let us into the conservatory until 9.30am - and that's the only place to get a view of the bay. An egg bendict and a scone and cream later, it was back north to collect the kids in Whitby. Now it even got warm, and the sheep bleated with their lambs - what an idyll. The children then went up to the Abbey with us - but that would have been a real shame. That thing must have been huge in the past…. Anyway, great and very impressive!
