This eight-kilometer-long, panoramic hike to the summit of the Frühmesser starts high up: you take the Wildkogelbahn from Neukirchen am Großvenediger up to the mountain station. First you go down into the Gensbichlscharte, where you pass the beautiful Maria im Schnee chapel.
As you continue, you will reach the reservoir on the Braunkogel, which provides you with unforgettable photo opportunities. Its smooth water surface seems to merge almost seamlessly into the mountain panorama behind it. Things get even tougher up to the 2,233 meter high summit of the Frühmesser.
A few calories lower, you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Hohe Tauern at the morning meal. On the other side of the summit it goes down to the Grasleitenkopf and then to the Herrensteigscharte. The way back to the Gensbichlscharte is relaxed, with only a few meters difference in altitude. Back at the Wildkogelbahn mountain station, you can grab a bite to eat in the mountain restaurant.
