This relatively easy round takes you through the Rosental in the south of Carinthia and via the Seental back to Lake Wörthersee. While you're racing down the gravel road on the Drau Cycle Path, only the rugged Karawanken separate you from Slovenia. Magnificent views and landscapes accompany you up and down through the Rosental before you slowly head north at Maria Rain. You cycle through the entire Keutschacher Seental and at the same time learn a lot of historical things.
The round starts at the Karwankenplatz II car park in Velden. You leave the city in a southerly direction, past Rosegg Castle and Zoo as well as the Celtic world of Frög. Then it goes on the Drau on a lot of gravel and without significant increases quickly in the Rosental. After Feistritz, it is worth taking a detour to Rosenbach to see the bullet-riddled “Chapel of Forgotten Souls”, which commemorates the victims who died during the construction of the Karawanken Tunnel, also because of the steep meters in altitude.
Before Unterferlach you change the banks of the Drau again. If you are on the hunt for cool photos, two Lost Places await you on two detours at Maria Rain: the "Eternal Rain" as a natural spectacle and the Hermit's Cave. You only touch the southern outskirts of Klagenfurt and go through Viktring into the 4-lake valley Keutschach, with the lakes Rauschelesee, Bassgeigensee, Keutschachersee and Hafnersee. By the way, a dip in the water is always worthwhile here.
Your route continues wavy towards the starting point. A detour of around two kilometers to the south side of the Kathreinkogel is exciting on the way. Here, too, objects were found that indicate prehistoric settlement. The remaining kilometers you roll comfortably back to your starting point.
