View of the River Sawdde at Llangadog Common

Highlight • River

Spend a few moments on the bridge over the River Sawdde river to take in the view. A great bird watching spot, if you are patient or lucky enough you may see Sandpipers, Dipper or Kingfisher here.

A beautiful section the Cycle Across the Beacons route, with the road passing to the South of the Usk reservoir and crossing the River Usk itself.

Roman Road Near Trecastle

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This ancient Roman Road starts just outside the village of Trecastle, with a steep road climb, hitting 20% in places, before you emerge onto a wide open grassy plateau with amazing views all around.

The track is rough and requires good bike handling skills. The majority of the route is rideable: I used 700X40c Maxxis Rambler tyres (no issues), however there is s steep descent toward the end of the section that is significantly more technical, and I chose to walk this short 20-30 metre section.

Best experienced on blue sky day.
