Today's route is very varied and you should therefore not expect to walk continuously over vast moors. Of course you will walk along purple colored pieces for 10 kilometers, but the Kaapse Bossen are so varied that you don't want to miss the other highlights.
There are several striking trees in the woods. The first is a very special beech, where there are five beeches together like a bunch. An impressive wonder of nature.
You stroll further through the Kaapse Bossen and sniff the fresh greenery. Walking through the wooded area you go towards De Ruiterberg. The mountain is almost 60 meters high, which is huge for Dutch standards! De Ruiterberg country estate, which was built in 1916, is located on the mountain. It was destroyed during WWII, but luckily it was restored afterwards so that you can enjoy it again today. Not only the country estate itself, but also the associated gatehouse is worth a stop.
A little further on is another striking beech tree. The beech is not only incredibly thick, but also ancient! What must that tree have already been through? Near the beech you climb up at De Kaap. Your effort will be rewarded with a breathtaking view.
Once you have descended, take a look at the Doornse boulder. The boulder comes from Scandinavia and dates back to the ice age. You end the walk with another panoramic view, where you can take a seat on a bench and enjoy your own provisions. You can also close at the catering establishments that are present here.
The tour starts and ends at the Kaapse Bossen parking lot, where you will find a tearoom and information board. Are you coming by public transport? Then take the bus to Doorn and get off at the Maarten Maartenshuis stop. From here it is another half hour walk to the starting point.
The heather in the Kaapse Bossen is in bloom between mid-August and mid-September.

Very occasionally a (blue) sign is missing, so navigating with Komoot is recommended.
Along the way there is a beautiful view over the Heuvelrug from the lookout tower "De Kaap" (25 meters high).
