Road cycling

This ascent, which leads to one of the prettiest listed alpine passes in the region, starts from a car park located on the edge of the Guil and below Chateau-Queyras.

At Height of Ville-Vieille, turn right. The long, but gradual climb will take you from 1,367 to 2,737 meters above sea level.

At about the fifth kilometer, a young lady with a hairdo appears at the bend of a bend in the road. Do not hesitate to stop to take a picture of this very strange and rare geological phenomenon also known as the fairy chimney. These natural columns, surmounted by a rock, are the source of many legends.

Halfway, the village of Molines-en-Queyras arrives at the right time to take a saving break and fill its water bottle before attacking the second part of the climb.

Gradually, the landscape becomes more and more desert and it is not uncommon to hear the characteristic whistle of the marmots.

At the top, you can appreciate the calm and serenity of the place, as well as the feeling of accomplishment specific to any pass crossed by the strength of the calves and the will.

Before the descent, opt for the traditional photo. At this precise location, you have one foot in Italy and the other in France. Wonderful memories in perspective.

Molines-en-Queyras, more particularly its church, has this singular architecture, typical of the high mountain villages of Queyras. Both aesthetic and functional, its heritage is well preserved.
