Trail Reviews

Jan
May 17, 2022, Charmouth to Lyme Regis

We drove down to Charmouth as hubby fancied a day at the seaside. We chose Charmouth as it was quiet, easy to get to and had a large car park on the water's edge. We were hoping to walk along the cliff to get the best of the views but unfortunately the path was closed due to landslides so we had to walk through the woodland instead. Lyme Regis was very nice to walk around and we decided to walk back along the beach and join the many fossil hunters on the Jurassic coast. Hubby found a large fossil..........no not me...........and I ended up carrying it back to the car. A really enjoyable walk. Would have liked to have spent more time fossil hunting, needed a geology hammer.

Back on the Southwest Coast Path, it's actually not supposed to really start until tomorrow, but since the bus ride from Exeter to Lyme Regis went without a hitch, I've already completed the first part of my tomorrow's stage. A relaxed warm-up to Charmouth. 😊
