Imagine venturing down a path characterized by an incredible environmental and naturalistic interest, surrounded by the phenomenon of underground karst phenomena, typical of limestone areas. View a variety of plant and animal species gradually revealing themselves in their natural habitat. This is the tour that takes you from Vedeseta, in the heart of Val Taleggio, to Morterone, a small town perched on the eastern slopes of Resegone. A simple path to follow with a minimum difference in height, along which you will explore the source of the Enna river, its waterfalls and its ravine. An excursion that develops for about four hours round trip.
The trail follows the course of the Enna stream, made up of waterfalls, pools and small waterfalls. Around you will have luxuriant woods, home to hornbeams, elms, wild cherry trees, lime trees, ash trees, beeches, maples. Cross the bridges, admire the ferruginous water spring – which stands out for its bright red color – and reach the sources of the Enna river. Here, a sparkling white waterfall plunges into a deep river hole, providing a mesmerizing contrast to the surrounding greenery. Take a moment to admire the waterfalls and the breathtaking panorama of the Orrido, before leaving the Enna river behind you. The arrival in Morterone, the smallest village in Italy, marks the end of the path.
Keep in mind that Val Taleggio, although touristy, is not well served by public transport. You can get to Vedeseta with your own car or take a bus (B40A). There are numerous car parks available in the town center or at the Lavina bridge, on the provincial road n° 24 of Valle Taleggio. But don't be discouraged: this excursion is a pleasant journey and accessible to all. Between picnic areas, fountains and slight slopes, it lends itself perfectly to being a family outing, even for those with little girls and small boys.
