Dettingen an der Erms is known for its countless cherry trees. When they open their flowers in spring, you can celebrate a "Swabian Hanami" on this hike. 50 old varieties of cherry trees alone have their home here. On information boards along the Dettinger Kirschenweg you will learn a lot…

First tour of the year. I moved the start from the original starting point at the train station about 600m in the direction of travel to a small hiking parking lot. From here, it goes straight through a scattered fruit meadow with all sorts of different trees. Here, as well as later shortly before Bad Urach and between Bad Urach and Dettingen, the bloom was partly already over, in bloom or yet to bloom. Timing is a bitch. From here it goes to the Calverbühl and at the Hauserbrunnen in the direction of the Höllenlöcher. A small detour into the Höllenlöcher is worthwhile here, as the tour only passes by. Once you have left the Höllenlöcher behind, most of the altitude meters and ascents are already done. Now it goes partly along the Alb ridge with beautiful views into the valley of Bad Urach and the Hohenurach ruin. Afterwards, it goes down to the Landgestüt Marbach and below the Hohenurach ruin to Bad Urach. There is currently a construction site here and the original tour has to be modified slightly. Now it goes a bit through Bad Urach, past the Albtherme Bad Urach and the Fachkliniken Hohenurach in the direction of Dettingen. Between Bad Urach and Dettingen, you walk through a few scattered fruit meadows again. Afterwards, it goes back through Dettingen to the parking lot.
Today was the perfect day to once again enjoy the sea of blossoms on the Alb. We started in Dettingen an der Erms. We climbed through orchards to the Calverbühl. A fantastic vantage point, then continued up to the Höllenlöcher (Hell Holes). And I could hardly believe it, but there was simply no one there except us. A narrow forest path leads along the ridge, past several vantage points. We continued down a narrow, very beautiful forest path to the Güterstein stud farm. Here, too, trees were in full bloom everywhere, a magnificent sight. The path leads through the Maisental valley, past the Urach thermal baths, and back to Dettingen an der Erms. Beautiful day, beautiful hike, Easter can come.
Today we enjoyed the wonderful weather again on German Unity Day on a little excursion. Beautiful views of the Lenninger Valley and the steep slopes of the Swabian Alb. There was also food. So far top. 🥾🧭
Dettingen/Erms is surrounded by cherry trees that bloom in April. At Calverbühl there is a "cherry trail" with information about the Dettinger cherries. The Höllenlöcher are up to 100m long avulsion fissures where rock towers have broken away from the solid rock and slowly slide down the valley over geological periods of time. These avulsion fissures are up to 4m wide and 30m deep. A ladder leads deeper into the gorge. The Güterstein waterfall is much less visited than its big brother, the Urach waterfall. Through the Meisental back to the Ermstal and to Dettingen.
Mega round .... today with sun, clouds and snow! Climbing the hellholes is really great ..... then the yellow rock and the waterfall .... Perfect round for medium demands who also want to "see" something! Worth seeing and demanding!
