Ancient swamps, creaking wooden paths and pine forests covered in cloudberries - this is what characterizes the natural Patvinsuo National Park in eastern Finland. Incidentally, with around 105 square kilometers it is also the largest national park in the southern half of the country. You will also find characteristic features of both northern and southern Finland such as bogs, lakes and rivers.
You can take your whole family with you on the three-kilometre-long Lakkapolku Trail and there is plenty for everyone to discover. The wooden plank paths, from which you can spot lizards and all kinds of colorful flowers in the swamp landscape, are particularly exciting, as is the viewing platform in the middle of the pine forest. For example, the colorful red-necked grebe nests nearby. And if you are out and about here in summer, you can also snack on delicious cloudberries.
