The landscape of Helvetinjärvi National Park is rich in geological features such as rock crevices that were formed millions of years ago by violent movements deep in the earth's crust. It is not for nothing that Helvetinjärvi translates as Hell Lake. But the area is one thing in any case: hellishly beautiful! So how about a little hike on the Helvetistä Itään Nature Trail?
The hell trip starts at the hiking car park next to the Helvetin Portti restaurant. From here you go through a wooded area, which is interrupted in between by a clearing, directly to the Höllenkluft, an impressive crevice. Immediately behind, not only a rustic hut with a fireplace appears in front of you, but also an inviting bathing area with a jetty. You can stay here for a while before you return to the parking lot on a parallel path.
