Finally in Northern Ireland 🏞 - a long-awaited dream has come true 😃. We did our first tour on the way from Belfast to Ballycastle in Glenariff Forest Park. Glenariff Forest Park is located about 8 km southwest of Cushendale in County Antrim and is a very popular destination with various hiking trails. We chose the Waterfall Walk, a path about 4 km long that leads past smaller and larger waterfalls. We started at the information board in the car park and followed the Waterfall Walk Trail marked by a red arrow. First you walk a bit of a gravel path before turning into the forest. Here you notice the rustic, moss-covered trees that line the path. The path then leads over stairs, wooden walkways and bridges further and further down into the valley where the Glenariff River flows. Here you immerse yourself in another world - huge ferns and rhododendron bushes as well as rare plants grow here 🌿🌳🌲. Sometimes you feel like you are in the jungle 😅. Then we come to a bridge from which you have a great view of the Ess-Na-Larach waterfall, which plunges down two steps. On the way we pass several small falls and water slides 🌊. Then we continue to the Ess-Na-Crub waterfall - this is where the Glenariff River and the Inver River flow together. Despite the similar name, this one is completely different, while the Ess-Na-Larach waterfall rushes down two steps, the Ess-Na-Crub waterfall flows down a wide edge into the valley 🌊. Then we climb through the forest between the two wild rivers back up to the parking lot from where you have a really nice view of the Glenariff Mountains and when the weather is nice you can even see the sea - simply magnificent 😍😍😍.
