Hiking
The Gaisberg Joch panorama and alpine path is one of the most beautiful in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. Look forward to pure hiking fun along the eleven kilometer route in partly high alpine terrain. You can get to the starting point in Kirchberg in Tirol by train.
The first section of the tour is completely relaxed: the Gaisberg lift takes you from the valley to the mountain station, where the hike begins. If you want to master the ascent on your own, plan around an hour and a half for it.
At the mountain station, keep left and hike uphill to Bärstättalm. Behind the hut, an alpine path leads you up to the summit cross of the Gaisberg Joch. Enjoy the fantastic panorama at 1,770 meters and let the beautiful mountain landscape work its magic on you.
After crossing the yoke, there is a short, steep descent over the Nagillersteig. Then you will reach the Harlassanger Chapel, a small pilgrimage church with a mystical history. According to legend, two enemy groups of witches argued here so much that they had to “lose their hair”. Many people still feel a special aura and strength in the place today. If you still lack energy, you can stop at the nearby Kobingerhütte.
A relatively flat path takes you back to Bärstättalm and on to the Gaisberg chair lift. From here you can either take the lift down to the valley or take the forest path down to the Alpengasthof Obergaisberg. Past the Kirchang chapel, the path leads back to Kirchberg.
As part of the mountain summer opening, the tour is offered every Monday as a guided hike. Registration is made through the local tourist offices.
