Hiking

Embark on the Trezeni Trail, a moderate hiking route that spans 7.7 miles (12.5 km) and features an elevation gain of 1121 feet (342 metres). You can expect to complete this journey in about 3 hours and 39 minutes. As you hike, you will experience a diverse Mediterranean landscape, with paths winding through forests and scrubland, offering continuous panoramic views of the sea, the Amalfi Coast, and even the island of Capri from viewpoints like the one overlooking Santa Maria di Castellabate. The terrain is mostly unpaved, natural, and gravel surfaces, providing an authentic outdoor experience.

When planning your visit, be aware that while the trail is generally considered moderate, some sections, especially the final 200 meters to Punta Tresino, can be challenging due to exposure, overgrown vegetation, and unstable ground. Sturdy shoes and appropriate trekking clothing are highly recommended for your safety and comfort. Parking is usually available in Lago or nearby areas, but you should be prepared for less-maintained paths in certain parts of the route.

This loop hike is nestled within the Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. A significant highlight along the way is the atmospheric abandoned hamlet of San Giovanni, which adds a distinct historical dimension to your journey. The route provides a rewarding experience for hikers seeking varied terrain and captivating scenery within this protected natural area.

Section of Trail 700 with scenic viewpoints

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

In a ring tour in the Trentova-Tresino area I wanted to include a path with a very captivating name: "La Panoramica". Along the downhill path from Mount Tresino to Punta Tresino, the views are actually beautiful, but the path in the final part, i.e. the last 200 meters, is almost overhanging, and is decidedly "dangerous" because it is very exposed, absolutely uncared for, with vegetation obstructing the step and unstable ground. It went well but objectively it wasn't for everyone.
Trekking clothing is absolutely necessary, with sturdy shoes, gloves and sufficient mountaineering experience.

In a ring excursion in the naturalistic area of Trentova-Tresino I walked a stretch of the Sentiero dei Ponti di Pietra (path 701), characterized by the presence of ruins of stone bridges on gullies dug for the outflow of water.
Trekking clothing and non-slip shoes are recommended

The last section of the gate is no longer accessible. Shortly before the building with the turret, a path has been newly marked and is accessible all the way to the end. Do not turn right to the rowing boat with the turret, but continue straight ahead.

In winter - we walked the route in January - some of the paths are very muddy and slippery!

Very nice tour, but it took us longer, sometimes quite steep and rocky. It was nice to swim in the sea at the end of the Baia di Trentova. Important - bring your swimwear with you!

Today with @Elisabetta and @Alfonso Tagliamonte we returned to walk a very beautiful ring in the Trentova-Tresino Natural Area in the magical Cilento. Splendid day at the end of February. Fantastic colors: sky, Mediterranean scrub, undergrowth, crystalline sea. A true enchantment.
I only point out that the ground in several sections was slippery, in others there was an …
