Hiking

A varied round with lots of water and even more views awaits you with this tour: It goes up to the beautiful Kaltenberghütte at over 2,000 meters. You will pass many small mountain lakes and pools. A dreamlike piece of earth!

The starting point of this hike is St. Christoph, which you can easily reach in summer by bus line 760 from St. Anton. You leave the houses of the village behind you and start to hike out into nature. The Berggeistweg leads you over boulders and accompanied by a unique Alpine panorama up the mountain. Steep serpentines take you to a saddle and picturesque Almmatten to the Maroiseen. It's a short climb uphill, then you descend relaxed to the Kaltenberghütte.

At the hut you can take a leisurely break and enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. All around you will also find a few small lakes that provide the necessary cooling. Then you complete the loop via the Paul-Bantlin-Weg back to St. Christoph.

We took the bus to the Arlberg Pass in Sankt Christoph to go on a hike before our journey home.
From the hiking car park we hiked on the Berggeistweg over the Albonagrad (2241 m), which lies above the Verwall reservoir. We continued to the Kaltenberghütte (2085 m), which stands on a mountain edge and offers a huge view of …

The Berggeistweg trail initially led gently, then later became steeper, winding up to a saddle with a view of the Pateriol. Passing Lake Maroi, we reached the Maroijoch Pass after a short climb. With a view of the Klostertal valley, the trail led us to the Kaltenberg Hut, where we took a well-deserved break.
Afterwards, we hiked back along the …

It was a great hike and we were lucky with the weather. Until the last hour of the hike: it started pouring so suddenly - then there was a thunderstorm - that we were all soaking wet. Unfortunately also the 👟. In the certainty that my 👞 won't be dry by tomorrow, I bought …

That was really a dream tour today. Beautiful paths, great views in all directions and a very tasty stop. And that even in the best hiking weather. The tour was a top tour from the Rother hiking guide, we can only confirm 😀

Superb tour. Not difficult. Be well equipped because it can snow at the top, and the weather is changeable. A nice refuge for lunch, Kalterberg Hütte.

The tour begins in St. Christoph on the Arlbergpasshöhe at 1800m. You can park there in a large parking lot for hikers. It goes up over the Berggeistweg, which is very easy to walk. Up to the Maroi peaks it is a bit more demanding, but still very manageable. In addition to the charming landscape, the destination is the Kaltenberghütte. …
