Trail Reviews

Harald und Arianne Happekotte
June 16, 2024, Col de Hautacam und Col de Tramassel

Today is the first day in the Pyrenees. The trip to the Col de Hautacam was planned and was carried out. The way up is a dead end and you take the same route back down. For the Tour de Franc, this is a mountain finish. The tour itself. At the beginning, the path is a disused railway line. After a few kilometers, you leave the easy-to-ride route and start the first climb. This leads through a small village where you can also get some refreshment. After the descent, you are back on the railway line. From there, you go to the Cl de Hautacam. The climb is 7.5% on average. Three sections are more challenging at 10% and 11%. When you get to the top, a sign welcomes the cyclist where you can take your summit photo. Past the sign is a sign with Ferme (farm). If you follow the road for about 1200 m, you come to the Col de Tramassel. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed and we drove back downhill without coffee or cola. When you get to the bottom, turn right towards Lourdes. Be careful, the road surface has been renewed with stone granulate. Not a pleasant ride. After about 2.5 km you come back onto the railway track towards Lourdes. There is a restaurant about 3.5 km before the end of the route. You can get cheap food there and it is not far to the end point.

September 26th, 6 degrees Celsius at the top... The view is superb all along the pass. The arrival is surprising: ..... A huge parking lot with nothing. No coffee, snacks... Nothing. Just the pass sign for the photo.
