Highlight • Monument

Admission €7.50, worthwhile exhibition about the transmitters, lighthouses and geology and fauna at Mizen Head. Also nice for children, because you get an insight into the habitat of the lighthouse keepers. Good cafe with light meals: Very fishy but also with vegetarian soups and sandwiches.

You can only get here if you have paid the €7.50 entrance fee at the visitor center. Not a lighthouse in the true sense, but a nice additional exhibition in the walk-in lighthouse. The interns are friendly and happy to answer any questions. A visit is worthwhile even when it is foggy. Southwestern point of Ireland!

Today it's cloudy and very very windy as the Wild Atlantic Way crosses the most south-western peninsula: Mizen. At the southwest end is a lighthouse with an exhibition and lookout points. We almost got blown away today though. Nevertheless nice views, interesting information about the lighthouse and life here. Too bad the ship simulator didn't work...
