Probably the best open-water swimming location in Ireland. Due to the very sheltered nature of this salt water lough it’s possible to swim here when sea conditions at local beaches are too rough. Popular with swimmers year round.

Cool down with a saltwater swim after your hike. Knockomagh overlooks Lough Hyne, arguably the best open water swimming spot in Ireland.

This version misses out the walk up and down the "mountain". NB although it starts at a car park, there's only half a dozen spaces so go off season or set out early.
