A tranquil hike through the picturesque Salmauen.
The start and finish of this HeimatSpur is the Hotel Molitors Mühle, which invites you to take a leisurely break at the end of the hike. The path first leads along the idyllic Salm to the former Cistercian Himmerod Abbey, a place of peace and contemplation in the midst of the most beautiful Eifel nature. After crossing the Salm at the abbey, the path leads to the small Eifel village of Eisenschmitt. Now a remote natural paradise, this area was known centuries ago for its iron ore deposits, which were mined and processed along today's hiking trail. Where blast furnaces, hydroelectric power plants and quarries used to dominate the landscape, today the natural salt meadows enchant hikers.
