We start our bike tour in Rennertshofen with its historic market center, meter by meter we approach the primeval Danube valley in the Altmühltal nature park and let steep cliffs and small villages pass us by. From Dollnstein, the Altmühl will be our quiet but steady companion until finally, far away, the Willibaldsburg announces the baroque university town of Eichstätt. Be sure to visit the Jura Museum in Eichstätt. Shortly after Eichstätt, the path leads us slightly uphill via Pfünz to Hofstetten. Via the small communities of Böhmfeld and Gaimersheim we reach the northern foothills of the vibrant city of Ingolstadt. The last few meters in Ingolstadt we initially follow the Altmühltal cycle path, which is then replaced by the Danube cycle path and leads us to the inviting Klenzepark on the Danube. Cyclists who want to cycle from Ingolstadt back to Neuburg an der Donau / Rennertshofen cycle along the Danube Cycle Path again. Tired cyclists bridge the section by train to Neuburg an der Donau and then cycle the last stretch on the Danube Cycle Path back to the starting point.
