The hikers' car park is free, but comes up suddenly to the right of the main road. After that, it goes up for a while. After the ski jump, there is a tough trail. You should be a bit fit. Or motivational gummy bears or cookies. If you need a bench, you'll only find one almost at the end. Once you're at the top, the hike is more relaxed. Very nice view down into the valley. You should have a good profile. Surefootedness doesn't hurt either. There is a lot of shade in the forest. The paths are well maintained. No danger of ticks. Very nice to walk on. Overall, a nice, somewhat shorter hike. If you have a water filter with you, you're out of luck. Opposite the car park, however, there is a cemetery. You should get water there. At about KM 4 there is a barbecue area
Great tour with very beautiful views of Bad Urach 💯🤩
It's slowly time to prepare for this year's major events. 🤔 The first short hike is this one from the Gräfenstieg. Super nice to walk, with great waypoints. I didn't know that there was a ski jump in Bad Urach. 😳 Beautiful viewpoints, a few meters in altitude and many forest hiking trails. Highly recommended if you only have 2 hours to spare. 😊
Today the "Hochbergsteig" near Bad Urach - one of the 5 Grafensteige - was on the program. Unfortunately, the plateau of the Swabian Alb was not high enough to escape the fog. After I was denied the otherwise beautiful view on this round, I turned my attention to the many rocks with their deep sloping gorges in between while taking photos. At the end of the tour, the Hermann-Greiner-Schanze (former ski jumping hill in Bad Urach) was impressive. Here you can relive a piece of ski jumping history and indulge in nostalgia. Despite the not so nice prospects, it was still a nice lap.
We started in the best sunshine ☀️, but a thunderstorm came up so that unfortunately we could only linger briefly at some of the wonderful views. At first the traffic on the nearby slopes was disturbing, later the silence, the chirping of birds, the smell of fresh hay and the chirping of crickets were just beautiful. In the end we were faster than the thunderstorm 💪🏻
There was also an afternoon/evening tour today: the Hochbergsteig. This hike was very entertaining with many small highlights, we found the view of Bad Urach from the Michelskäpple particularly beautiful. And on the Kunstmühlefels there was an excellent picnic with delicacies from the butcher Failenschmid.
We actually wanted to walk the famous Wasserfallsteig today, once Germany's most beautiful hiking trail. We found out at the hiking car park that this was not a good idea on Sunday. Caravans of people set off from there. We didn't feel like that and changed our plans. The premium hiking trail we chose was short and sweet and lived up to its name "Hochbergsteig". We took beautiful paths up to the Alb plateau and then along the Albtrauf with wonderful views towards Bad Urach. Unfortunately, you could hear the sound of motorcycles roaring through the valley almost everywhere, so there was no sign of silence in the forest. This somewhat spoiled the overall impression of what was otherwise a very worthwhile tour.
I was out hiking with a friend again today. The climb was tough, as some of the paths were very narrow. The amazing view makes up for it all 😅. With some entertainment, it feels like a fun experience anyway. The tour is mostly through the forest, and the temperature was pleasant there 😃.
