This is the final stage of your loop around the Mont-Blanc massif. The 44.3 kilometers on the program start from Switzerland towards the place du Triangle de l’Amitié in Chamonix. They include 2,440 meters of elevation gain which are mainly divided into three more or less similar climbs.
The first kilometers leaving Champex-Lac are on a slightly descending false flat which allows you to warm up well for the day. The first climb takes you up to the Alpage de Bovine, bypassing the Pointe Ronde on its flanks. This, as well as the descent which follows towards Trient, comprises several sections in a very beautiful preserved forest which makes your progress very pleasant.
Like the next two, the descent to Trient is longer and less steep than the climb you have just completed. Some passages are still quite steep, such as the last kilometer before the village. Nestled in a magnificent valley, it welcomes you in an authentic atmosphere. Barely out of Trient, you take a new climb whose aim is to tip you towards Vallorcine.
It is towards the middle of the descent, a little before the town that you return to France.
Fill up with water, refuel accordingly in order to face the last great difficulty that separates you from Chamonix.
On leaving Vallorcine, you take a false flat that leads to the Col des Montets. A few meters further on, the path rises zigzagging through the forest. As you climb, spectacular vistas are revealed. You can admire the pretty Tour glacier, while keeping an eye on Mont Blanc which is gradually revealing itself. A magnificent balcony bordered by a few lakes takes you towards the Tête aux Vents.
This suspended belvedere facing the Mont-Blanc massif highlights the incomparable adventure that you are about to complete.
The refuge of La Flégère marks a symbolic point of the stage and of your journey: end of the elevation gain. Take the time to contemplate the view of Chamonix, but especially Mont Blanc: the very essence of your business. The descent takes place once again in a beautiful forest which finally leads to Chamonix. The last flat kilometers towards the city center are an opportunity to immerse yourself in what you have just achieved.
Chamonix welcomes you with its wide choice of bars, restaurants, shops and accommodation. The possibilities have the advantage of being innumerable to perfectly end your formidable odyssey.

Are the changes in the route after 2023 included in this gpx? The route has been adjusted a little bit in the last part since then.
