Baroque Harbour, Bad Karlshafen

Highlight • Monument

The harbor basin has a nice outline and is much nicer overall than those weird big ports in Hamburg, Bremen, Rotterdam or the like that are crammed with cranes, containers, etc.

The small ferry takes you across the Weser with your bike for 1.50 euros.

Along the Upper Weser

Highlight • River

The paths are undeveloped and simply wonderful. Sufficiently wide, they offer space for oncoming traffic. There are always benches along the way. There is often a familiar silence.

Wehrden Castle and Park

Highlight • Castle

Very worthwhile castle park with some botanical rarities (for example a remarkable Süntel beech) and beautiful, old trees near the Weser or the Weser cycle path.

View of Höxter

Highlight • Viewpoint

On the other side of the Weser River, there's a small snack bar. In summer, you can sit there under the shady trees, enjoy a cool drink, and relax with a beautiful view of the Weser.

April 13, 2022,Von Bad Karlshafen nach Höxter (Weserradweg)
Höxter is currently a single construction site. Otherwise, the Weser cycle path from Bad Karlshafen to Höxter is highly recommended on both sides.

With a somewhat overcast sky today, a very nice bike tour from Höxter along the Weser with the aim of the baroque planned city of Bad Karlshafen and back on the other side of the Weser. The tour is pleasant to drive, to the border triangle above Herstelle it is a bit steeper uphill, down towards Bad Karlshafen we drove …

A very nice tour, this time without the rain like last year. CAUTION! From Bad Karlshafen downstream towards Höxter, a section on the left side is closed due to a rockfall! Follow the detour. You can shorten the tour by taking bridges or ferries. A must-visit is Fürstenstein Castle for the beautiful view.

Of course, this tour is part of the program every year. Since the Weser bank is completely closed in Höxter, we spontaneously decided to cycle to Bad Karlshafen on the right bank. Highly recommended. Thank God there wasn't much going on either, but I think tomorrow, on Sunday, it won't be fun anymore. ☀️😎

from Boffzen the Weser along the right bank upstream via Wehrden to Bad Karlshafen and then along the left bank downstream back to Höxter. Nice high summer tour and the km flew by.

There is a big construction site in Höxter and that makes it chaotic from Corvey Monastery to behind the Höxter train station.
The bridge will be replaced by a small passenger and bicycle ferry - this is going well.

It's best to park in the parking lot of Corvey Castle/Monastery. And then you can get going. Even the constant rain didn't stop us. When the sun is shining, anyone can do it 😂

Today, we once again moved the start of our Weser tour to Höxter, where we cycled along the right bank of the Weser to Bad Karlshafen for lunch. After a lunch break, we rounded off the return journey on the left bank with coffee and cake on the promenade in Höxter. It started to drizzle lightly along the way, but …
