Around Callantsoog – walking through tulip fields

You start your walk of more than 15 kilometers today at the church in the center of Callantsoog. It is a circular walk, so you will automatically return to your starting point.

You walk partly on unpaved paths and the walk leads not only through colorful flower fields, but also through other beautiful nature reserves, such as Zwanenwater. In this special nature reserve with a panoramic view of the dune-rich surroundings you can enjoy beautiful orchids and fluttering butterflies.

If you are an avid bird watcher, you will spend a little longer at the Uitlandse Polder, where various types of migratory and meadow birds fly by. You are close to the coast all day long, so of course you can also get a breath of fresh air on the beach during this walk.

A tulip walk would not be a tulip walk if the route did not lead at least once through flowering bulb fields. You will certainly encounter this along the way. After walking through this living palette of colors, you will arrive at an observation tower. When the fields are in full bloom, this gives an even better view from this hut. But even without the flowers in full bloom, you still have a beautiful view of the natural environment and the animals that live there from this height.

Speaking of animals: dogs are not allowed on this walk, so your sweet pet will unfortunately stay at home today.

As far as catering en route is concerned, there are especially cozy food and beverage outlets in the center of Callantsoog. It is therefore best to have a cup of coffee here before you start your route to start the day well and settle down here on a terrace after the walk to reward yourself for the effort. Or settle down at one of the beach bars at the end of the walk. Nothing is better than a snack and drink with the relaxing sound of the waves in the background.
Pack a snack in your backpack for the first part of the hike, as you won't find a place to eat for the first few miles.

You will find parking spaces close to the church where your walk starts. You can easily reach the starting point by car. Are you coming by public transport? Then take the train to Schagen station and then the bus. Line 152 in the direction of Callantsoog will take you to the Zeeweg stop in about half an hour. From here you can walk to the starting point of the route within a few minutes.
