Meijendel

Meijendel: every child who grew up in the area of The Hague has warm memories of this. But this versatile landscape continues to fascinate young and old. Meijendel offers dunes, heaths, forests and sand drifts. As a result, it also has a diversity of plants and animals and there are numerous hiking trails that lead through nature. There is also a beautiful beach and you can enjoy the beautiful views over the dunes.

This Tour of just under 9 kilometers is suitable for the majority of walkers. The walk starts and ends at the famous pancake house Meijendel. It has seating inside by the fireplace or outside on the patio. This restaurant is open daily for coffee, apple pie, pancakes or lunch, with varying opening times per season. So check this well in advance!

This walk takes you through special landscapes: a mix of forests and heathland full of submerged trees. Eventually the trees recede and you are in the middle of the dunes, in a beautiful hilly environment.

You will also come across several dune lakes here. You get a good overview of this versatile landscape from the viewpoint that you will encounter after 4 kilometers. Here you have a wide view of the dunes and the water landscape. There are binoculars and from here you can even see the sea and the city of The Hague.

The walk slowly takes you back into the wooded area, until you come across the familiar restaurant again. Time for a pancake on the terrace or - in inclement weather - next to the fireplace!
