Used a vacation day today for a really nice, but also a bit exhausting tour 😊. The temperatures were just bearable, Clärchen seemed 🫠 tireless. But first the journey, which was a bit further than planned due to alleged road closures (was clearly outperformed by the return trip - small tour of the Eastern Ore Mountains 🫣) Parking is plentiful, but not a bargain, especially if you need a relatively long amount of parking time. But then we started in the direction of Geisingberg, from the path you already have a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Unfortunately, the Baude was closed today and therefore the Luisenturm was also closed. Then just looked for the right way and downhill towards Geising, a very pretty little place. From there past the hut pond, which is in a wonderful location (but it seems that the preservation of the pool is being fought 🤔), up to the Kohlhaukuppe. As is well known, all sorts of things are made in the Baude..

André had invited us to the 3-Mountain Tour near Altenberg today, and so we were able to complete this tour in sunshine and warm temperatures. We started in Altenberg, where a large parking lot had disappeared to make way for two markets (still under construction). First, the trail led up to Geisingberg, where the mountain inn was already open, and we sipped a shandy as a precaution against dehydration. Then, over the rocky descent into beautiful Geising, where we quickly licked an ice cream to cool off, and then walked past the beautiful buildings to the edge of town by the swimming pond and the climb to the Kohlhaukuppe. The mountain inn is closed on Mondays, as we knew in advance. We were still able to climb the observation tower, and after enjoying the beautiful view, we headed towards Zinnwald, with a short detour into Czech territory. Unfortunately, all the restaurants in Zinnwald were also closed, so we continued on to Kahleberg. The snack bar there was open, so we could quench our thirst...

From Altenberg past the Altenberger Pinge and the mountain meadows to the 824 m high Geisingberg. Next to the mining lodge to the Louisenturm, which offers a view over Altenberg. Then steeply downhill towards Geising. Past the historic streets and the Hüttenteich natural swimming pool up to the Kohlhaukuppe (786 m). Along the German-Czech border, via Zinnwald-Georgenfeld to the Lugsteine. Finally to the Kahleberg - at 905 m above sea level the highest elevation in the Eastern Ore Mountains. Look for a place for the sunset and return to Altenberg at dusk.

The tour was actually called: 3 Mountains Tour Altenberg, found here by someone ... and actually it was 4 mountains and a medal run, after all, it was exhausting and similar to a competition 😘 Today I booted up to the Geising Berg, Kohlhaukuppe, Kleiner Lugstein, Großer Lugstein and the Kahleberg ... the landscape is great, because a lot of nature and variety ... but you had to be very careful on the paths because a lot of mud and slippery, approx 4x it almost worked and I would have been lying for a long time ... but only almost 😉 plus a lot of stones, sometimes large, so balance is once again an advantage ... the weather was great, a lot of wind up there, but also sun which then immediately heats up again ... I used that today in the breaks and allowed my battered feet a little freedom 🤭 I was still a bit fresh in the morning because I started walking at 6:30 a.m. It didn't take long and I got warm ... went up the mountain for a long time 🙄

🏔 Kohlhaukuppe (879m) 🏔 Geisingberg (824m) 🏔 Kahleberg (905m) The hike of the 3-mountain tour Altenberg starts at the foot of the brothers Großer Lugstein and Kleiner Lugstein on the 4th Advent. Via the mining village of Zinnwald-Georgenfeld, it goes along the German-Czech border towards Kohlhaukuppe (879m), which is also called "Knoblauchkuppe" because of the delicacies in the mountain hut. For a contribution of €0.50 per adult and €0.25 per child, you can climb the observation tower, from which - if the fog has cleared for a moment - you can enjoy a good view over Geising to the Geisingberg. Descend through Geising and take the ridge path up to the Geisingberg (824m), where there is also a mountain hut. Leaning your back against the warm tiles of the oven, the blueberry cheesecake with crumbles and powdered sugar is a treat and puts you in a cozy, cosy mood that leads to writing winter wonderland postcards. As you leave the hut, it snows for a short time. The path down from the Geisingberg is crisp and we can already see the Altenberger Pinge behind the fence. On the way through Altenberg, we make a detour to the mailbox to send the postcards on their way. We pass the shop selling "Altenberger Original" - the herbal liqueur. Near the train station in Altenberg, you can already see the Kahleberg ski slope, where lots of people are romping about on skis and sledges. So we head up this mountain (905m), which is the third highest elevation in the Eastern Ore Mountains. From the summit, right next to the Kahlebergbaude, you can see the wide view over the country and the ponds of the Kleiner and Großer Galgenteich, which were originally created for mining, as well as the Altenberg reservoir. Darkness comes on this day too, so we postpone the detour to the Federal Performance Center for Biathlon, which lies south of the Kahleberg.

A very nice hike. Varied, lots of great views and an open (!) hut on every mountain. Great. The fourth "mountain" is the summer toboggan run in Altenberg. If you don't want to go on that, the route is shortened by about 1km 🙂
