This is a beautiful trail run for the (semi) advanced runner who is looking for a route through an incredibly beautiful forest landscape full of challenge and variety.
The route starts from the Kaap Doorn bus stop on the Leersumsestraatweg in Doorn. This bus stop is easily accessible from Utrecht Central Station, by taking bus 50 there. You soon reach the beautiful park Doornse Gat, where a challenging sand hill awaits you for a hill training. Are you up to the challenge? Fun fact: Jelle's Marble Runs, the marble racing program that became world famous during the lockdown, was filmed on this sand hill.
About three kilometers later you can take a well-deserved break - that is, if you dare to climb the lookout tower De Kaap! This tower is 25 meters high and offers a wide view over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In clear weather you can even see the Domtoren in the west and the Rhine in the south!
One and a half kilometers before the end of the route, the iconic Stone Table awaits you. This table dates from 1931 and has therefore been a popular break for walkers and cyclists for almost a century. The wrapper consists of a millstone that comes from an old mill in Wijk bij Duurstede.
You end your trail run at the starting point: bus stop Kaap Doorn. From here you can return home or take the bus to the center of Doorn to enjoy a well-deserved terrace.
