This is one of the best views of Loch Ness. Perhaps you might spot the Loch Ness Monster?! The mysterious Nessie was first photographed in 1933 and continues to be spotted to this day, however it is easy for it to keep out of view, as the Loch is the most voluminous lake in the UK.

Here you can sneak a peak through the woods at this lovingly maintained building. This privately owned castle is available to rent, and stands on the grounds of the original property built in 1626. It is an example of Scottish Baronial architecture and was given 'castle' status in the 19th Century.

Loch Ness - a short walk from Dores Beach, along the lake to Aldourie Castle and back through the forest. It is an easy, enjoyable walk, but unfortunately also quite monotonous.
The highlight is the huge, impressive Aldourie Castle - a typical Scottish manor house that has been classified as a property in the highest monument category since 2003. Its …

In 1933, the legend arose that a monster lived in Loch Ness. Apparently, resourceful tourism managers continually re-enacted this story, making the area world famous.
Urquhart Castle has certainly benefited from this, as it probably wouldn't have had so many visitors otherwise.
The short hike along Loch Ness was very relaxing and there were hardly any people around.
