Crummock Water

Highlight • Lake

Buttermere is the highest up the valley or most easterly. Next is Crummock Water which is the longest of the three lakes in the Buttermere valley. It's managed by the National Trust. The road along the valley is lovely to ride running right along the banks for some sections.
Good pub and café in Buttermere village and lots of options for picnic or swimming spots all along this road.

Rannerdale Bluebells

Highlight • Trail

Great place to visit when the bluebells are out (or any other time of year). Make sure you stay to the paths to preserve the bluebells to make sure they keep blooming and looking amazing year after year!

Old Hawthorn Tree

Highlight • Natural

A picturesque old Hawthorn Tree, also known as a May Tree, named after the month in which it blooms. These native trees have pale pink petals when they flower, and are an indicator of the seasons changing from spring to summer. The Hawthorn is a perfect sanctuary for various birds and small wildlife due to its thick foliage brimming with thorns - a great spot for bird watching. Please be sure to stay on the paths behind the fences when the bluebells are out.

Rannerdale Knotts is a 1,165-foot (355 m) Wainwright fell in the Lake District close to the eastern edge of Crummock Water. My favourite time to hike Rannerdale Knotts is in the Spring when the bluebells are out, but at any time of year the view to Crummock Water and Buttermere from here is outstanding. This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the Lake District.

Rannerdale Beck and Bluebells

Highlight • Natural

A picture perfect view of Rannerdale Beck with Whiteless Pike in the background. A pyramid shaped fell at 660m high, one of the many Wainwright's you can tick off in the area.

A morning ramble through the iconic bluebells in the valley below Rannerdale Knotts then walking back over the top.
A quick walk up through the bluebells and via a shortcut onto the ridge to gain the summit because I was short of time
