Paddy's Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

This wooden bridge connects the main route into Glen Nevis with the less frequented side route. The bridge leads over a raging waterfall. Very impressive background noise.

Nevis Gorge

Highlight • Viewpoint

Along this section, the Water of Nevis is squeezed into a narrow rocky ravine. As it crashes through the gorge, you can admire the river from the footpaths above. The gorge is only short lived, as a short distance to the east the landscape opens up to reveal the beautiful Steall Meadow.

Steall Meadow

Highlight • Natural

After the tumultuous cacophony and claustrophobia of the Nevis Gorge, it comes as something of a surprise when you suddenly emerge into the idyllic Steall Meadow. Wild flowers bloom in spring and wooded mountainsides rise on all sides. The crowning glory is the backdrop of An Steall waterfall, cascading down from the Mamores.

Steall Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Tumbling down from the hanging valley of the Allt Coire a' Mhail, An Steall is a hugely impressive sight. It emerges wonderfully as you make your way through the Nevis Gorge and into a beautiful meadow. It is around the Munros that encircle the Allt Coire a' Mhail that the famous Ring of Steall traverses, one of Britain's greatest hiking routes.

Steall Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Anyone who has done the classic Ring of Steall will be familiar with this wire bridge crossing over the Water of Nevis. It comprises three wires, one for your feet and two as handrails. It can be quite intimidating, especially in winter when a dunking could be potentially dangerous, as well as cold.

From the car park at the end of the Glen Nevis road, a romantic path leads through a gorge. After climbing this rocky trail, the landscape opens up and the trail descends into the Glen Nevis Valley.

A beautiful hike over hill and dale.
You can also climb and jump through the forest and over a few streams.

Highly recommended!

Easy, popular hike into the breathtaking Glen Nevis. Not for nothing were some scenes of the best film of all time - BRAVEHEART - shot here. It is best to go very early or in the late afternoon.

Therefore this time the tourist …

The elevation profile can't be accurate, as we passed the highest point twice (outward and return). The length of the tour also doesn't match the information in local hiking guides.

Beautiful landscape, waterfalls, gorges, stream, high mountains. However, it is very busy, parking spaces are becoming scarce, it is better to come early. It's worth not taking the top parking lot, the lower part of the way is already wonderful.

The most beautiful hike in Scotland 😀, repeat from 2012.

A very beautiful hike through the Glen Nevis valley to Steall Waterfall. Start early, otherwise it can get crowded.

A great half-day round tour, the way to the impressive waterfall is sometimes ambitious, so sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are required, but will be rewarded with a great view; the way back offers bold views of the gorge, then you are soon at the starting point, lower falls parking

Showing Translation

Very beautiful and scenic trail. Not too difficult apart from some short passages which need a good foothold.
