View of the Three Sisters, Glencoe

Highlight • Viewpoint

This is a classic viewpoint for the Bidean massif's Three Sisters, one of the most iconic sights in the Highlands and a view that’s emblematic of Glen Coe. The trio of siblings in question are Aonach Dubh, Gearr Aonach and Beinn Fhada. Each sister is a termination of the northeast reaching ridges that protrude from the main spine of the complex and awe-inspiring Bidean.

There's plenty of room for motorists to pull in and take in the sights here. Meanwhile, hikers can use the parking spaces as a starting point for either adventures on the Bidean or to begin an ascent to the Aonach Eagach ridge to the north. However, for the latter, there is more suitable parking along the main road to the east.

It's boggy here from the water falling from the Munroes, so be mindful of your step and the rock path soon resumes to follow back down.

Stob Coire nan Lochan Summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

From Bidean nam Bian, which stands at 3,773 feet (1,150 m), you descend down to a rocky path. Sometimes, it's obscured and we took a route around the red rocks instead, which seemed slightly safer. It's then a climb to the next summit of Stob Coire nan Lochan, which stands at 3,658 feet (1,115 m). It's joyful on the legs after ascending all of that way.

The summit of Stob Coire nan Lochan seems to attract some larger flies than our midge friends, not sure why. We didn’t spend too long at this summit and descended to get away from them.

It certainly feels like you are on top of the world when you come around to this section, you can see where you have come from and the amazing views of every other distant peak you could wish to tackle. We will definitely be back again soon.
