Beautiful ascent with great viewpoints

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Extremely steep ascent to the Sonnenspitz (45% gradient). Recommended only as an ascent! Walking sticks help a lot.

Hello hikers, up on the Jochberg is extra class. Entrance from the Kesselbergstrasse car park is located in a U, approx. 1 km before Lake Walchensee. Before you get there it's about 700 meters uphill for a good 2-2.5 km :-). Very varied with forest, gravel bed, rock and path sections. Exhausting anyway... it goes up.
But once you get to the top... a dream!!! Best view of Walchensee and Kochelsee ever... and to the south of the mountain ranges of the foothills of the Alps. Insane view with comparatively little effort. No cable car, no lift, no parking lot, no kiosk provides technology on this mountain. A mountain cross... of course it has to be. Have a snack upstairs and just linger for an hour. Take a few pictures and then go back downstairs. A nice trip for sporty families. Unforgettable. Greetings Armin

The hike:

We took advantage of the beautiful day and headed up to the Sonnenspitze at lunchtime. It's a beautiful path from Lake Kochel and a great way to do it all. The trail isn't boring at all; you should be sure-footed and free from vertigo. From the top, you have a fantastic view of Lake Kochel. And there's the smallest summit …

We were on the road for a total of 4h30. Was quite demanding.

(Very) steep ascent and descent. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required. There were several people at the summit, otherwise we were alone, there was definitely a reason for that.

For a long time I've been toying with the idea of attempting a tour in the dark to experience a sunrise at the summit. But I never dared alone because it was dark, alone in the forest 😳 Stepped out of the comfort zone today and faced the fear and what can I say? There was a queasy feeling, but …

Today we went hiking again for a long time! It was actually supposed to be a ski weekend, but with these spring-like temperatures there was nothing with snow 🤷‍♀️ the hike to the Sonnenspitz was just fantastic! Great views of the Kochelsee, beautiful light and good company for nice conversations 😊

An autumn day 🍂 like it's in the books! Mystically, the Kochelsee was still shrouded in fog 🌫️ in the morning, the climb to the Kienstein through colorful mountain forest 🍁🍂 and then the sun☀️ came out more and more and let everything shine in an even more beautiful light!
A tour that I've wanted to do for a long …

Beautiful after-work tour on the Sonnenspitz. The ascent was very steep 🥵 but still very nice. The whole way is on beautiful mountain hiking trails 🥾 and not on forest roads, which gives the round an extra attraction. The whole thing is topped by the wonderful view of the Kochelsee and the Jochberg and Herzogstand ⛰️. The view also extends …
