Aubourn Weir

Highlight • Natural Monument

Lovely little spot to take a minute or two while you listen to the water running through the rocks. Cross via the ford if you dare (riding buddies will want to be ready with the camera) as very rocky and often deep, I'd strongly recommend the bridge.

Thorpe Lake Beach

Highlight • Lake

A lovely little viewpoint on Thorpe Lake at Whisby Nature Reserve. There's a bench to sit on and admire the view.

Whisby Nature Park is full of wildlife, walks and trails. Nature has reclaimed the sand and gravel quarry pits, creating habitats for many species.

The Natural World Centre has a cafe, shop and toilets. No cycling is permitted in the Nature Park itself.

St Peter's Church, Doddington

Highlight • Historical Site

St Peter's is a Grade 2 listed parish Church in Doddington. The building dates back to the 1700s but but the church has a chalice from the 1500s and a 1600s alms basin. It's situated next to Doddington Hall, Lincolnshire.

Doddington Hall and Gardens

Highlight • Cafe

Doddington Hall was built between 1593 and 1600. It is said to be haunted 'by a girl who threw herself from the roof whilst being pursued by a lustful squire'. The hall and beautifully manicured gardens are open to the public.

Friendly staff and a great Cafe.

Both these buildings are old the Church dates from the 14th century and the pub from the early 16th century, though some parts are thought to be older. We had a lovely night there, joining in with the Publican's family for a birthday. Just be aware the pub is only open Monday to Thursday from 1600hrs to close and they do, do meals. The room was very comfortable with a small ensuite. Love it all.
