Rauen Viewing Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

This lookout tower is in close proximity to the Markgrafensteinen. The tower is 45 meters high and offers you a fantastic view of the Scharmutzelsee, the Rauener mountains and even as far as Berlin when visibility is good.

Access is secured by a turnstile and entry costs 1 euro per person. IMPORTANT: The machine only accepts 1 euro pieces and 50 cent pieces.

Great and Little Markgrafenstein

Highlight • Natural Monument

Here are the largest boulders in the region. At one you can see the spot where a piece of the boulder was blown off. The large stone bowl that still stands today in front of the Pergamon Museum in Berlin was made from it.

Stone Table, Rauen Hills

Highlight • Monument

On the highest elevation of the Rauener Mountains (153.8 m above sea level) is the Steinerne Tisch and the pertaining benches. Everything was made of chipped pieces of margrave stones. Formerly called the place "The beautiful view" and even Theodor Fontane stayed here.

Very nicely designed signpost with small wooden pictures assigned to the destination. There are several of these in the Rauen mountains.

Today we 'just' took a short walk to the observation tower in the Rauen Mountains. When the visibility was good we were able to see the Tropical Island in Brand, the Berlin TV tower and Müggelberge, Cemex in Rüdersdorf and much more.

A nice little afternoon hike to the observation tower in the Rauen Mountains. You need a euro coin to pass through the turnstile. The view is worth it.

It was an unforgettable one. Experience to enjoy the silence of the forest and the chirping of different birds.
A magnificent view was offered from the lookout …
