Narok Palace

The history of this pretty Gothic Revival castle is primarily associated with the von Wichelhaus noble family. It was Friedrich, a banker from Elberfeld, who bought the property in 1858 and extensively rebuilt the previous modest structure. He also set up a 2-hectare garden full of exotic plants. The castle remained with the family until 1945 when it was nationalized. During the communist times it accommodated the workers of the Narok collective farm and slowly fell into disrepair. Recently it received a thorough refurbishment arranged by the current private owner, but unfortunately is not open to the public.

Independent locality was established in 1941 and excluded from par. Skorogoszcz. The church was built in 1905-06, destroyed in 1945 (the tower was blown up) and rebuilt in 1946. In 1961 the Grotto of Our Lady was built in the cemetery.
