Zillergründl Reservoir Dam

Highlight • Monument

You should only enter the dam wall if you have a head for heights. The hike to the Alm (small Tibet) is worth it. There is a lot to discover like plants or animals

The waterfall is just after the tunnel. The path along the lake is wide and very easy to walk on.

There are many places to rest along the reservoir in the direction of the Klein Tibet Hütte. Benches with creative names. I don't find the names funny. Rather fitting.

Today we took a really beautiful, but also really long hike above the Zillergründl. From the Bärenbadalm we took the bus up to the dam, then after the tunnel we took the Plauener Hütte junction into the basin below the Kuchelmoos cirque. Great view of the cirque with many waterfalls 🤩. On the opposite slope we climb in switchbacks, first …

... People people people 🤓 today 🙃 daily task accomplished 💪🏻👍🏻👌🏼. Today was the "queen stage 👑 " in the few days here 🤗, the landscape the absolute highlight, fantastic 😍 🥰 🙏🏻, in every respect part of the "golden hiking badge" 😂. 24°C and plenty of sunshine, another day to look up. Today we walk past the third water reservoir of the Ziller basin, the one on the Ziller itself: Zillegrund. This beautiful, elevated lake is nestled between towering mountains. The views are breathtaking as we walk along the lake. Here and there, tributaries from the mountains thunder into the lake. It …

We undertook this incredibly fantastic hike in glorious weather. The panoramic views of the Zillergrund Reservoir are always there. The Plauener Hut surprised us with its incredible hospitality and a beautiful view. We made our way across a lot of scree and the occasional snowfield back to the reservoir via the valley head.

The Rainbachköpfl is practically the local mountain of the Plauener Hut. It can be reached from the hut in an hour.
First steps, then scree, then some scrambling secured with ropes. Rewarding views of many 3000m peaks.

Our second day took us from the Plauener Hut along the Hannemann Trail. First, we hiked for almost two hours at a nearly constant elevation, with some breathtaking views, to the end of the valley. From there, we descended on a very beautiful path, where we repeatedly enjoyed stunning views of the reservoir. Although the path today offered little elevation …
