Einsiedeln Monastery

Highlight • Religious Site

Most important place on the pilgrimage in Switzerland. An impressive place with a magnificent cathedral and monastery. The evening Vespers service with Ave Maria is a must - the chants and organ music followed by a pilgrimage is a highly spiritual experience - even or especially if you don't think much of spirituality.

Be sure to spend the night in the monastery hostel. The monks' cells are spartan and nevertheless very impressive and appear with an unbelievable calmness. The pilgrim's stamp with the black Madonna is a must and is available at the hostel reception.

Lake Sihl

Highlight • Lake

The Sihlsee is the largest reservoir in Switzerland in terms of area, but due to its shallow depth it does not have a very large volume. There are many opportunities for biking and hiking on both sides of the lake. The lake tour is popular with racing cyclists.

Beautiful, partly steep ascent to the Stöcklichrüz. hiking trail, e.g. with concrete elements, shady areas possibly icy in winter. Passes the Wyssegg barbecue area.

Sihlsee Lakeside Route

Highlight • Cycleway

Quiet, low-traffic region (especially if you drive along the eastern shore of the lake, on the west, the main road with more traffic through). Beautiful view. Possible resting place at the small beach at the northern end of the lake or at the eastern end of the southern bridge over the lake).

Awesome and not too demanding circular tour above the Sihlsee. All routes can be done with an eMTB without any problems. Only the single trail from Staffelegg is quite demanding and cannot be mastered without problems with a heavy bike. It is better to follow the street for a short time and then turn left at the bottom.

Wonderful bike tour with wonderful viewpoints of Lake Zurich and Lake Sihl. One or two short but very steep climbs but everything is still mobile and two shorter trails can also be enjoyed. There are also opportunities to get refreshments on the Etzel or to stop off at the Bergbeizli Stöcklichrüz or Gueteregg.

Started in Einsiedeln, very scenic tour, lunch at St. Meinrad, unfortunately there are many turnstiles, pasture fences etc. on this tour, not always easy with an e-bike
