Batteri Hanstholm I Bunkers

Hanstholm Bunker Museum

In the Hanstholm Bunker Museum, you will experience Northern Europe's largest fortress from the Second World War. It consists of Hanstholm's unique 2500 m² museum bunker, where several rooms have been restored to their original appearance, giving you an idea of how the soldiers lived there.
Interesting special exhibitions are also shown in the bunker.
The battery was built in 1941 to block the access for the British fleet into the Skagerrak, together with a similar position near Kristiansand in Norway. The battery consisted of four 38-cm cannons, whose barrels each weighed 110 tons. The cannons had a range of 55 km, i.e. almost half the distance to Norway.
