Ochsenburg Castle stands on a roughly 30-meter-high rocky outcrop on the right bank of the Traisen River. The medieval castle of the Ochsenburg family was rebuilt into a Renaissance-style palace during the 16th century. In 1785, the newly established Diocese of St. Pölten was granted the right to use it.
