Beauvezer, a village beautiful to behold

This pretty village of Haute Provence perched on a mound dominating the banks and the valley of the Verdon, takes its name from the Occitan, bèl and vezer, meaning "beautiful to see"; and this is the case... The small town experienced a major economic boom in the 19th century with the installation of textile industries dedicated to wool weaving and which continued until the middle of the 20th century. From this period it retains beautiful imposing buildings, and in particular the Maison des Produits de Pays du Haut Verdon, which combines mountain architecture with the colors of Provence. You may appreciate the small square next to the church which also houses the town hall, the pétanque courts and a grocery store. All the mythology of the small French village...
You can see the village emerging from the hillside and the trees from the main road along the Verdon, but it deserves a little detour to discover its narrow streets.

Actually I didn't expect much from this tour, it should be a change of location to Saint-André-les-Alpes. Nice descent at the beginning, after many mountain tops it can sometimes be more downhill than uphill (on average over the year I'm way up there).
