Salamanca's Plaza Mayor, from the 18th century, is one of the most beautiful urban monumental squares in Europe. Its construction began in 1729 at the request of the magistrate Rodrigo Caballero Llanes. The project was in charge of the architect Alberto de Churriguera, followed by his nephew Manuel de Lara Churriguera and was completed by Andrés García de Quiñones in 1755. Located in the center of the city, it forms an irregular supported quadrilateral, with three floors in each facade, chaired by the City Council.
