In 1905-06, the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg had a 17th century half-timbered church or chapel, once replaced by the neo-gothic church building, with its 34-meter-high slender tower replaced. From the predecessor building, two carved, life-sized figures of saints from the 15th century and a crucifix from the 14th century are preserved. The altarpiece is on loan from the parish in the rebuilt nave of the former village church Dargelütz in the open air museum Klockenhagen in Ribnitz-Damgarten. The church today is a Romanesque brick building with a cross-shaped floor plan. The two church bells were acquired after the Second World War. Today the church is about to decay and is on the list of endangered village churches in Mecklenburg.

Entering the church through a door on the south side leads to a white, bright interior. The high leaded windows and brass wall lights give it the character of a bright, festive space. A narrow room has been partitioned off on the west side, through which a staircase leads to the gallery. The altar and pulpit were destroyed in a fire in the 1950s and replaced with simple, carved pieces. On the altar, which consists only of a solid table, are two new brass candlesticks. An old, chased brass candlestick is used as the Easter candlestick.
A simple, large wooden cross adorns the east wall behind the altar.
